Press credibility requires transparency about who funds the work. This page lists our ownership structure, revenue sources, and the firewall between business and editorial.
This policy is published in draft form pending counsel review. The structure + scope are in place; specific wording must be approved by legal before final deploy.
#Ownership
Publisher details, ownership percentages, and board composition will be populated here before public deploy. Set settings.publisher_* values in admin and re-publish this page.
#Funding sources
- Advertising: display ads sold by our ad-ops team. No advertiser influences editorial. See AI Policy + Editorial Standards.
- Subscriptions: reader-paid memberships for ad-free + premium access.
- Grants: we accept journalism grants from disclosed sources only. List published here annually.
- Events + commerce: conferences, journalism awards, and digital products. Disclosed separately.
#Business-editorial firewall
- Advertising sales staff have no access to upcoming editorial coverage.
- Subscription pricing decisions are commercial; editorial coverage of the subscription product follows the same standards as any other coverage.
- Advertisers cannot block, suppress, or modify editorial content. Threats to pull ads in response to coverage are escalated to the Editor-in-Chief and may be publicly disclosed.
#Annual transparency report
We publish an annual transparency report covering: revenue mix, advertiser conflicts, audience metrics, correction count, complaints handled, and editorial staff demographics. The most recent report will be linked here.
