We welcome reader submissions — letters, op-eds, photographs, video, and story tips. The rules below describe what we accept, how we handle rights, and when (if) we compensate.
#Submission types
- Letters to the Editor: max 250 words. Published with name + city (we verify both).
- Op-eds: 700-1200 words. Original work; not previously published. Subject-expertise disclosed.
- Photographs: news + feature photos. Caption, date, location, photographer name required.
- Video: raw footage of news events. Source identity verified.
- Story tips: send via tip form or secure channel. See Source Protection.
#Rights + licensing
When you submit, you grant us a non-exclusive perpetual licence to publish, display, edit, and archive. You retain ownership. We require an exclusive licence for paid op-eds (negotiated individually).
#Editing + verification
- Letters: edited for length and clarity; you see final edits before publication if material.
- Op-eds: edited for clarity, fact-checked, and may be returned for revision.
- Photos + video: provenance verified before publication. EXIF data checked.
#Compensation
- Letters: not compensated.
- Op-eds: standard rate paid on publication (rate card on request).
- News photos: standard rate per published image.
- Story tips: not compensated; we never pay sources.
